Odds formats, each way and Rule 4

This UK bet calculator handles every common bet, from a simple single to a 247 line Goliath. Some people call it a betting calculator or an odds calculator. It works with fractional odds like 5/2, decimal odds like 3.5 and American odds like +250.

Switch on each way and choose the place terms to see how the win and place parts pay out. If a horse was withdrawn and a Rule 4 deduction applied, enter the deduction in pence and the calculator takes it off your winnings.

Your stake is per line. A £1 Lucky 15 costs £15, and £30 if it's each way.

How to read your results

Total stake is your stake per line times the number of bets, doubled if it's each way. Total return is everything that comes back, including stakes on winning bets. Profit or loss is the return minus the total stake.

For multiple bets, the breakdown under the results shows what each group of bets returns, for example all the doubles together.

Questions people ask

Is the stake per line or the total?

Per line. The calculator multiplies it by the number of bets in your bet type and shows the total stake underneath.

What happens if a selection is void?

A void selection is treated as odds of 1.0. In a single you get your stake back. In a multiple the bet carries on as if that selection wasn't there.

Does the calculator include bookmaker bonuses?

No. Bonuses like a one winner consolation on a Lucky 15 vary by bookmaker, so check your bookmaker's terms and add them yourself.

Why might my bookmaker pay a slightly different amount?

Bookmakers round at different points and some have maximum payouts. If the difference is more than a few pence, ask them to show their working.
